Very enjoyable piece! It's instructive to us Yanks to read the reactions of Europeans to our railroads. Too bad, though, that he had to take the Wyoming detour and miss the glories of Gore and Byers and Glenwood Canyons.

As noted by Mr. Kisor, it appears that the author's Zephyr was detoured via the Overland Route. However, I have always contended such hardly represents a 'rainout".

Very enjoyable article - pretty fair too. It's interesting to see how visitors react to Amtrak travel.

As a sidebar, I am eager to see what Denver Union Station winds up looking like after the urban re-development project which is about to surround it.
