Important info needed.

We board the Silver Meteor in WAS at 7:30 pm. Do we get dinner?

There is a chance. I haven't taken that train personally. But it usually closes at eight.

You should get dinner. Every time we have boarded (twice in the past 6 months) we got it. On the most recent trip (mid-March) we boarded the sleeper and, when I asked at 7:30pm, the attendant told us to go to the diner. The attendant in the next car said reservations were set for 8:00pm for boarding sleeper passengers. That attendant turned out to be right as they seated us at 8:00. If you travel coach, you may not get dinner.
