Don't worry; Amtrak's got railfan "trainspotters" out there nowadays!

How can I word this without coming off the wrong way? Well, how about this......A threat to railroads is (and has been) very REAL for quite some time now. However, all I read about on other rail websites/forums is how the police "harassed" a railfan for innocently taking pictures, and "Don't they have anything better to do???". As a matter of fact, no, they do not have anything better to do. They are doing what they get paid to do.

This is a personal peeve of mine, thus, the rant...

When we went down to SBA to pick up tickets the first time, on Tuesday, we noticed a guy in plainclothes, but with a badge that said "Special Agent" and a very large gun in a holster. He was talking to an Amtrak agent in front of the baggage facility door. We asked inside who he was and they said they couldn't talk about it. Perhaps heightened security?

Certainly says something about how far Amtrak has come that it's now recognized as a potential target. No?

A passenger train is a few hundred people.

I assure you, the right hazardous material would leave thousands dead.

I'm frankly more concerned about freight than I am passenger.

Pullman,

Either freight for total damage.

More likely commuter rail -- it has the "human" effect. (Also larger passenger count.)

I'm actually worried about this. But I would say they would go freight. As freight passes by the urban areas, and no one would think to check freight trains
