Over the past Weekend, or between October 1 and 3, inclusive, #5 & 6, California Zephyr was detoured over the C&NW Chi-CoBl. Therefore an excursion through Norway was part of the scenic highlights.
Well to translate, Norway Iowa at MP 95 (miles on C&NW are West from Clinton); sorry, no fjords to view.
From a report I noted elsewhere (from someone who does this stuff for a living), the detour was account trackwork along the BNSF (location, nature and scope I know not). If past practice prevailed, there was a UP engine on the lead and a Pilot C&E assigned.

That would have been an interesting detour. Wish I could have ridden with Official Railway Guide in hand.

My wife translated that abbreviation for me right away; she grew up in Council Bluffs near what is now Lake Manawa State Park.

Took me about 8-10 seconds but figured it out rather quickly. Isn't Union Pacific's museum (and company archives?) housed in the UP Depot in Council Bluffs now?

And it's closed-captioned for the hearing impaired . . . but I have no idea if Google's automatic audio transcription system gives an accurate rendition. Even if not, it was hilarious. Thanks, GBN!
