While not Amtrak related beyond addressing a segment of the Zephyr's route today (Weso-EMY), the upcoming series "Hell on Wheels" definitely has a railroad theme. It relates to the building of the Transcontinental Railroad; the term "Hell on Wheels" refers to the company towns that provided food and lodging (and "entertainment" as well) to the construction workers and as soon as construction had moved past their location the twins were moved along with the construction crews. Since we all know that construction workers went to bed at Sundown and to church socials with the ladies drinking sarsaparilla, how could such a name be associated with those towns [Razz]

The series starts November 6 on AMC.

Addendum; Nov 4:

I've missed most of this show for the last couple of years but I did catch an episode last night and it was pretty good. The plot seems to have returned to the story of the hard work and corruption required to build the transcontinental railroad. I tuned out when the focus seemed to be mostly on romance and revenge plotlines. The series finale is next week so I may have to binge-watch this season's episodes.

I've stayed with it all this time and will miss it in the future. The side stories were interesting but the main story, lay that track, was always present.

I once had an Amtrak trip that was "hell on wheels." :-)
