I just noticed that a post from 2004 has appeared near the top of the posting list on this forum! Is that typical?? What is the world is going on? Someone please explain.

If someone posts to an old thread, with perhaps an update, it still shows up in chronological order.

Meaning in chronological order of the most recent post to the thread.

That must be the 'How Many Miles Do You Have Thread'. I'm afraid that I'm guilty of keeping it alive by chipping in every so often..... though there will be no catching up with Mr. Guenzler I'm afraid!

Vicki -- on my computers (home and office), all the threads begin with the OLDEST post at the top, and the more recent ones further down.

You have oldest on top? Then how do you see the most recent comments? Do you have to scroll to the last page every time?

I have oldest on top as well; don't mind scrolling down to see the latest. Kind of insures that I didn't miss anything along the way.

Mine have always shown as oldest at the top and newest at the bottom.

The Posting List is in order of the one with the most recently posted item. The posts themselves are in order of oldest first and one must click on "Jump to new posts" to skip the ones already read.

I see the post counter is still not working.

It's too early to think so much! Topics are indeed listed with the most recent Topic added to or created first. Then, within the Topic, the posts go from oldest to newest. At least that's how I THINK it works.

Vicki--

I don't recall seeing "Jump to new posts". Maybe I'm just in the habit of scrolling down.

You'll have mail later this morning. Glad to hear you got a cabin you want. We are still waiting for our assignment for the 04/15/12 coastal on Oosterdam.

Jump to New Posts is on the upper left just above the Hello sbalax note. You do need to be logged in and stay logged in for new posts to work.

Still waiting to hear that Smitty is joining our cruise.

Man I'm confused. I do appreciate learning about the "jump to new posts" thing--I never saw that.
