Wow - sounds like a great trip...... and I've made a mental note not to plan a trip into Los Angeles on the Sunset any time soon!

It appears that the Sunset arrives in Los Angeles at Sunrise (or before).

For many years I took the Lake Shore Ltd which arrived in Cleveland before Sunrise. I lived in fear of sleeping through and missing the stop. (It also left in those days after midnight for the return trip home).

Another before sunrise arrival was a trip to San Antonio. Lucky that I was able to get a taxi that took me to the hotel where I had reservations that nite. My intent was to leave my luggage and go in search of breakfast. The kind desk clerk said the room was empty and handed me the key. A cup of coffee and a quick freshening up and I was off to see the sights.

Lucky that I was many years younger!!!! Not sure if I would want to do either now at my age.

Frank -- I have replied to your PM.

David -- ah, come on!!!! Nothing like waking up to a fresh cool dark morning in the heart of Los Angeles! One thing about arriving so early -- you can be the first customer at Philippe's for breakfast if you want!!

Maybe with the new schedule, the train should be called the "Sunrise Ltd," (it stops in San Antonio at "0-dark 30" also!)

Enjoyed the report, Rich. My own trip to San Antonio from Modesto is in three weeks.
