I'm in Durham, NC for my annual 3-night stand working on the Admissions Committee for the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and had the opportunity to drive over to Cary for tonight's on-time visit from train 91, the southbound Silver Star.

The Cary station was recently enlarged and had ticket agent and checked baggage added for the first time in the Amtrak era. The idea being to better serve the Raleigh area by taking some of the pressure off the outgrown former Southern Railway station in downtown Raleigh. I personally like Cary as it offers more and safer parking.

Seems to be working as tonight's train dropped about 15 people off and picked up 25-30 new passengers. The train double-stopped the platform which is about 6 car-lengthes as dictacted by a couple of busy streets on either side. Baggage and 1st class passengers were served by the first stop, coach passengers by the second.

As someone will likely ask, consist tonight was the 'standard' two locomotives, baggage, two viewliner sleepers, heritage diner, amcafe, and four amfleet coaches.
