I have booked a trip on the Zephyr in November from Denver to Sacramento. I notice that Amtrak no longer shows the car and roomette numbers on the e-ticket or receipt. Are those assigned when checking in ?
Looking forward to seeing the refurbished Denver Union Station, which has its Grand Opening on July 26th.

Russ - not to ask the obvious, but are you sure you actually reserved a roomette on your trip? My e-tickets from my trip last month showed all the roomettes I had reserved.

Are you traveling with someone else who may have paid for the room separately? When I met my wife in WAS last month, I had reserved our roomette on the Cardinal ahead of time, but when we added her, all her ticket said was "roomette" and the date of travel.

My E-tickets also show the car and room so that sounds strange,

It was an unexplained Amtrak computer glitch. Called Customer Service, and they e-mailed me a revised e-ticket with the numbers.

Now that I learned room assignments are printed, and since the only overnight service I have used since '10 is Auto Train, it would appear that only AT delivers you the "surprise". My Feb trip on AT for which e-tickets are not issued, I ended up with "A", which all here know is "uh, not exactly", the most desired Bedroom in the car.
