If anyone here was on the Chris Guenzler Lookout today (10/17)and saw someone frantically waving from the 440 car (transition sleeper)on #4, that was me. There were two gentlemen on the outer platform and one waved back.

I took the Zephyr from Galesburg to Denver, rented a car to Flagstaff, and returned on the Chief. I wasn't even trying to watch trains, but I passed through Antonito, CO just as the Cumbres and Toltec was steaming off. I also was coming down I-25 north of Belen when I saw a distant long bright silver gleam reflecting the sunset in the hills to the west. It was a 1 hour late Chief climbing back to the transcon. I wish I'd had a camera ready with a telephoto lens to catch that one.

Sounds like you had a good trip. The Lookout is a fine place to watch trains from.
