Amtrak train service to reconnect Rutland and Burlington, state says.
Major federal grant secured to upgrade last sections of track

WPTZ.com

Also talks of extending to Montreal, Canada, but one step at a time.

Somebody had best give that TV reporter a basic railroad safety lesson, namely DO NOT stand, let alone kneel, (@1:28) in the tracks unless necessary to perform your duties as assigned by an official of the railroad, and not some Producer.

I think it's kind of like TV weather people with a heavy rain. They have to stand outside, in a raincoat, and get soaked to the gills for a video shot. Why can't they just say, "it's raining".

Does not matter.

It was dumb

It was unsafe.

The railroad should send their police to the TV station to have a long talking-to to the reporter and his managers.

I welcome this extension, and would enjoy if it went to Montreal too--as long as it's not at the expense of the Adirondack, perhaps the most scenic US train ride east of the Mississippi. I was also quite interested in the last paragraph of this article. This new customs protocol (at least with Quebec) was announced some time back, with lots of fanfare--but STILL never put into place. Maybe with the new PM things will move along here. I would love to see the Toronto to Chicago train come back as well.

Good luck with that. If Canadian history of the past twenty or so years is any indication, they LOSE trains no matter WHAT party is in power!

I'll be happy if the Ethan Allen is just extended to Burlington, VT - using the old train station....
