The new Charger diesel locomotives for Amtrak's corridor services are under construction at Siemen's Sacramento assembly plant. Illinois, Michigan, California, Washington State and Missouri have ordered 58 new locomotives for their state supported corridor trains. The new Chargers should enter service in 2017 if testing goes according to schedule. Amtrak also has options for another 150 Chargers fitted with larger fuel tanks for long distance trains.
