I have booked my first Amtrak trip in years. My son and I or my wife & I will be heading out from Austin to Joliet on May 19 and returning May 22. The purpose of the trip is the 9th Living Legends paintball game at CPX in Joliet. If my son can get off work, he is going. If not, my wife is going, only because of the Amtrak trip. She has no interest in Joliet.

We leave from Austin due to the 2.5 hour drive from our house, versus the 5 hour bus ride from Houston to Longview (and we still have to drive 30-45 minutes to get to the downtown train station in Houston). Roomette both ways (room 5 going and room 4 coming back!)

As far as I know, George. I assume it is the same one they have been using for decades.

Just looked at Google maps. Yes, it is. In the past the MKT has rights on the MoPac from the north end of the Colorado River bridge south. At the north end of the bridge was a turnout with the west (left) side of the wye being the MoPac with their station at the other end of the curve off the wye. The east (right) side of the wye was the Katy, with their station some where east of the end of the curve off the wye. The ex-MKT track is now gone.

Don't know where you plan to park. There appears to be near nothing at/near the station.

Last time i was there, they had a parking lot in front of the station (east), with the tracks to the north side of the station
