The fast CAT ferry is coming back this summer between Portland Maine and Yarmouth Nova Scotia and there will be easy connections with the Downeaster:

#681 or #691 to Portland and #686 or #696 to Boston. Crossing time to/from Yarmouth will be about 5.5 hrs.....so now you’ll be able to leave Boston at 9am (eastern) and arrive in Yarmouth at 9pm (atlantic)

To continue onto Halifax.....the Dominion Atlantic Dayliner connection is long gone as well as the Acadian Lines bus......but there are rental cars and a shuttle van.

This opens up an opportunity for a circle trip for anyone in the northeast: Downeaster-CAT-Shuttle-VIA’s Ocean....then returning on the Adirondack.

The new CAT is the former Hawaii Superferry and wil now be chartered by Bay Ferries from the US Navy (picture here):

That is one trip we'd like to take. Glad to see its still running. The $75 van ride to Halifax seems like a bargain.
