For those of us who have ridden the LSL, we know the Buffalo station is a pretty miserable AmShack near nothing except the community of Depew, about six miles from the original Buffalo Central Terminal
With the recent collapse of the roof at the Amtrak station, city leaders are getting serious about a new location for the station. As this report shows, there is renewed interest in returning to the magnificent, if derelict, Buffalo Central Terminal. It can't come soon enough. I can only imagine what the Vanderbilts would have thought about all this.

Mr. Palmland, first we should note that the roof collapse occurred at Exchange Street and not at Depew.
The biggest issue is "four a day". In order to have any economic justification, there will have to be a non-rail "destination", such as a mixed use facility comprising a shopping mall, hotel, office space, condos, or any combination, beyond simply a train station. Kansas City has had a degree of success in a mixed use role, but Indianapolis unfortunately did not. Those two facilities are in the midst of "up and coming" areas, hardly the same can be said of Buffalo - station and the whole town.
I wouldn't want to lay too big a wager on that one.

How wonderful if they revive the real station. It is incredibly wasteful to allow what happened to it to happen.
