Here's video of the 2017 Amtrak Fall Excursion that is operating both today October 14 and tomorrow October 15. This year, the excursion will leave Penn Station, operate North on the ex-NYC freight only West Shore Line, X the Hudson at Albany, thence return to Penn over the existing Empire Service route:

How does it get from NYP to the West Shore line; curious where the junction is in NJ - Secaucus?

Apparently it used the PRR-LV interchange at Hunter, then reversed direction accessing the NYC-WSL through Croxton.

Thank you so much for posting this.

So disappointed did not find out in time and had already booked a trip to NYC that could not change. The CSX Hudson line has been on my bucket list for years.

I too wish I had known! Where can I get on a emailing list for this info?
