Being that I knew Bill Haithcoat "face to face", it is my sad duty to share with this Forum the news of his passing:

A memorial mass was held at Christ The King Cathedral, Atlanta, today.

I guess Bill had been ill for some time but still it’s still surprising and sad to hear this news. Thanks for posting, GBN. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill in Atlanta about 5 years ago before embarking on a rail journey. We had a great time talking about our favorite railroads - the NC&StL and L&N and some of their jointly operated passenger trains like the Georgian and Dixie Flyer.
