Some NY subway lines close for repairs on weekends, esp in summer. Be sure to check online on Friday to find out which ones won't be running Sat and Sun. For instance, last weekend, the E Side 4&5 (old Lex Ave IRT) were closed. One weekend the 7 line was operating only in Queens. Etc.

Also, the main branch of the New York Public Library (that is, the Schwartzman Bldg on E42) seems to be closed on Sundays for repairs this summer.

Thank you again. It is good to know this stuff. We leave on Monday, so there is a strong sense of anticipation!

Have a wonderful trip. It's been pretty hot, so be sure to bring cool shirts, shorts, sandals, etc (not that you can always walk far in sandals, but...). And a bathing suit if you go to the beach, or if your hotel has a pool (unlikely in Manhattan. . . ) It's supposed to cool off a little on Friday for the weekend but then start creeping up again, last I looked.
