A few months ago I saw a map of PTC implementation, which I cannot find now. But I did see then that the Buckingham Branch RR, which leases the track from CSX from Doswell, Va (RF&P connection) to Charlottesville and on to Clifton Forge had no plans for PTC installation. They only operate local freight service and handle empty coal trains received from CSX at Doswell. PTC was not required.

So the question is, why have we not heard about the Cardinal that uses the line from Charlottesville to Clfiton Forge? Given our angst about the CZ and SWC will we soon hear of a bus bridge over I-64 between those two points? Or, more likely a bus from Charlottesville to Huntington (a crew change point). This would certainly get Senator Machin stirred up even more, not to mention the Cardinal advocates in the train world.
