For those of you who read e-books, Riding the Rails with Paul Theroux, a single volume that includes three of his rail travel books (he Great Railway Bazaar, The Old Patagonian Express, and Ghost Train to the Eastern Star), is on sale at amazon/kindle for $2.99, I'm not sure for how long. The books are dated but still of interest--at least, The Old Patagonian Express (the only one I've read) would be. Alas, Riding the Iron Rooster is not included.
