I flew into SoCal last week and as I was driving westbound toward Los Angeles on Highway 60, I spotted an official Caltrans roadside directional sign pointing the way to the Ontario "Amtrack" Station. Huh? Traffic was heavy and we were only moving at about 25 mph so I got a good look at the misspelled sign. Nevertheless, I managed to convince myself that I was crazy and Caltrans knows the proper spelling. But as I headed back to the airport this weekend I spotted another misspelled sign directing eastbound passengers on Highway 60 to the Ontario "Amtrack" Station. Yes, Caltrans had at one time in the distant past, installed at least 2 directional signs with the "Amtrack" spelling. Both signs were old and weathered and will hopefully be replaced soon with correctly spelled signage. Has anybody else seen of any other "Amtrack" signs in CA?

Back in the late 70s/early 80s there was great merriment over here in the UK when the people putting the sign up at a station spelt it "Brititish Rail"!
