Since our forum has been very quiet, thought I would post a couple of photos that, while not Christmas, for some reason, remind me of the era when steam ruled and of a Christmas trip long ago. I took an overnight train trip to grandparents in Tennessee. It doesn't get any better for a nine year old than a long train trip followed by Christmas.

Anyone else have good train memories (maybe even during the Amrtak era!) of the Christmas season?

The UP photo was in Greeley, CO and the second is Strasburg RR during Christmas week. The last photo was taken much later but was on the train I took on that Christmas trip.

Merry Christmas to all.

Nice photos, Mr. Palmland.

I wonder what you use as an internet imaging provider. I was using "Photobucket", which was once free, but now charges a yearly fee. I don't know if there are any free imaging hosts still around.

Richard,

I use - Imgur

It has gotten a bit more complicated since they have gotten into the Instagram/ social media game. But if you stick to the basics: upload the image, copy the link (use the BB option), paste into forum, it's fairly painless

I hope this will hold, Mr. Palmland. I went to the Imgur site, and after a little struggle and confusion, I think I have figured out how to upload and paste.

I hope to visit Railroad Park Resort, in Dunsmuir, this summer. If so, I would like to take some photos and post them to the forum. Also, I may drive over to nearby McCloud for a visit and a few shots of the 3 nearby waterfalls.

Great choice on your first photo, Richard. Glad it worked.

Surprising that the C&O understood about how important your brand was. They had some pretty sharp managers in the offices at the Terminal Tower in Cleveland. I am surprised that Hays Watkins and Prime Osbourne couldn't do better than 'CSX' in 1980.

Talking of Christmas. I had a sort through old magazines and read through a number of them over Christmas. I have posted in topics elsewhere on the forum to give a flavour of what I was reading. Most of the posts are in the 'Railfans - International' topic.
