Hi All
If anyone is interested I've just published my trip report from my ride on the Cardinal right before all the COVID craziness.

It's published here: Trip Report: Amtrak's Cardinal from Chicago to NYC

if anyone is interested.

Good Report. Were your meals actually 'microwaved'??.....in the photo of the cafe that kinda looks like it might be a convection oven next to the microwave?

People like to say anything reheated is 'microwaved' but it could actually be done in a convection oven that gives much better results.

When I rode the Lakeshore......from the trip reports I had read I expected slop...... but the meals were very good!

Too many railfans are lost in another era. If you're looking for that nostalgic cooked on board meal......ride a 'Dinner Train' and pay the actual cost in providing it!

Good point - I'm actually not sure - it could well have been convection heated - I'll have to pay more attention next time!

I thought the food was quite good on the Cardinal too!
