My son and I left Pittsburgh on train # 42 , the Pennsylvanian for our trip to Philly to connect with the Meteor.

We used Busimess Class on #42 , which I always choose. The trip was terrific. The car must have been refurbished as it seemed very "new" inside. We were on-time the entire trip.

At Philly we headed for the Acela Lounge to await the arrival of the south-bound Meteor , # 97.

To be honest, I had real concerns about service on this train. Two earlier trips on this train , one north-bound and one south-bound were not very happy experiences for me as I found the conditions of my sleeper and over-all service both leaving much to be desired. I told my son to "be prepared."

Well, I am delighted to report that we had a GREAT trip !!

Our roomette was quite clean albeit somewhat "used" , if you know what I mean. Our attendant was very helpful and kind.

We were both very pleased with both the food and service in the dining-car. We were able to enjoy three meals---dinner, breakfast and lunch.

There was a nice variety to the menu. Dinner had two seafood entrees alone, plus the steak , chicken and a vegetarian entree. I had crab cakes that were delicious and my son had the steak. Portions, however, seemed a little small.

Breakfast had some nice options, too. We both had the omelette.

Choices for lunch were for two different sandwiches (warm or cold) plus the burger. I had the burger and my son had a warm chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed the meal.

Service in the dining-car was both prompt and curteous. We were delighted to say the least.

So over-all, we had a great time on the Meteor.

Unfortunately, we had to FLY home and HATED it !!
