I've only watched 'highlights' of the Ceremony that are now available at www.nbc.com, but with my knowledge of classical music, I was wondering rather than lighting the torch to the tune of Stravinsky's Firebird, 'The great gate of Kiev' from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition would have even been more grand.

Oh but whoops, Kiev is in Ukraine - and 'Putin The Great', or 'Czar Vladimir'; take your pick, is not exactly loved and worshiped there as much as he wants.

And finally; Davies Hall in San Francisco (where Firebird is performed); been a few since I've been there, but otherwise what a venue.

Well, I guess the Olympics was a nice 'cover' for 'Czar Vladimir's' little 'invasion' that had voluntarily disarmed itself as he was not loved and worshiped in Ukraine as much as he wanted.

Oh well, does he want to have his 'Black
Sea Fleet' have a little rumble with the US Sixth Fleet?
