While the thought of running, walking, or cycling through Scituate along a foot path constructed next to the new Greenbush railroad bed may seem like a great way to get some exercise or a healthy transportation alternative for commuters headed to work, not everyone in town is on board with the idea.
At special Town Meeting in the fall of 2002, Scituate voters approved $25,000 in Community Preservation Act funding to pay for a feasibility study to be conducted along the route of the Greenbush Rail, to determine whether a Rail-with-Trail project - a 5-10 foot pathway built adjacent to the railroad bed - would work in Scituate.
