I am taking the California Zephyr this summer and would like to know the consist. I much enjoy the sleepers being at the front of the train, but had heard rumors of them being at the rear. I will be traveling from Chicago to Sacramento.

Would apprechiate the help.
Thanks!

Last time I went (November) the sleepers were on the rear (Emeryville-Chicago).

I took the CZ from Osceola to Reno last year and stayed in a hotel in Reno overlooking the tracks, so I saw the CZ every day. Without exception the sleepers were on the front westbound and the rear eastbound. There were only two sleepers on at that time (early May).

Mr Williams...

That implies Amtrak would not/could not wye or shuffle the CZ consist at Emeryville...

I think Mr Williams means that DURING HIS STAY the sequence was always the same, not the same sequence all year round!
