FYI - There is an interesting story on the home page dated 10/20/03, titled "How Amtrak Handles a Medical Emergency in the middle of Nowhere".
It speaks well on how this Amtrak crew on the CZ was able to handle an onboard medical situation and to arrange a prompt response for the passenger to get to the hospital.

n my CZ trip this past summer they took off an old gentleman just after the moffat tunnel. In my professional opinion he was quite dead. Folks who came on the east bound said they had a death on the way out as well, also in the mountains.

I wonder how often this happens and if it is due to the 9000ft elevation and resulting hypoxia?
