I will be traveling from college home in November. My route runs over the Pennsylvanian from PGH-PHI, and then via Acela or Silver Service to VA. Does anyone have any recent ride reports on the Pennsylvanian (a train I have never had occasion to ride)? I know there's no sleeper, but is there a dinette? What shape is the equipment in? Does it still use Heritage coaches, or Amfleet/Amfleet II?

Thanks,
Charles

I rode the Pennsylvanian between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh in April. I rode in a Horizon (not heritage) coach. The other coaches were Amfleets. I believe the lounge was also a Horizon, but it could have been an Amfleet.

Food consists of snacks and beverages. One can get a hot microwaved sandwich, but that's about it.

The train handles a lot of head end cars and back end road railers.
