The engineer of the empty Amtrak train that hit a Long Island Rail Road commuter train Monday at Penn Station, injuring scores of LIRR passengers, was deemed responsible for the crash by an investigating committee made up of Amtrak, LIRR, and federal railroad officials, according to a report from Associated Press yesterday.

I have heard that the Amtrak engineer has been suspended without pay. Also, some conductors on my NJT commuter train also said the accident was due to human error - without a doubt.
