I had the true pleasure of taking Cresent to NY from New Orleans. What would you seasoned travelers suggest?

Or should I stick to Sunset to New Orleans then New Orleans say to Manasas?

Also any suggestions on discount sleepers?

Could someone repost peak travel times?

Thanks Becki

Where in Virginia are you trying to go eventually? The Crescent makes six stops in Virginia, so you might want to look at their proximity to your eventual destination. The Crescent is a very nice train. I have ridden from Charlottesville to New Orleans and Charlottesville to Atlanta. The route southbound is at night through Virginia and North Carolina, with Atlanta the next morning. The northbound route hits Charlottesville about sunrise in the summer, and Manassas about sunrise in the winter. I hope this is of some help.
