When my wife went north from Palatka, FL to Alexandria, VA in December on Silver Star (91) there was NO club car, no movies, food ran out fast in Dining Car and train was 2 hours late leaving Florida!!! When she came back from Alexandria a few days later Silver Meteor was 2 hours late arriving, no movies, no heat in car, car attendant forgot to wake her up before arrival in Palatka, etc. GREAT SERVICE!!! Even a rail fan like me would have his enthusiasm dampened! When friends of mine come from Japan and Europe I am embarassed to suggest they ride Amtrak. Money for wars in Iraq but not for Amtrak! For shame!
