During the week of April 17th, I'll be travelling via Amtrak from Baltimore to Pittsburgh. I've deliberately scheduled a 5 hour layover in Philadelphia (#180 to #43) to allow me to ramble about Center City for a while for transit photos, as well as to get a ride in on the Girard Avenue PCC line before leaving for Pittsburgh.

Years ago (1989), I remember taking a stopover in Philly, and I was able to check my bag at the Baggage Counter for a few bucks. Is this option still available, or are there storage lockers at 30th St.? I'd hate to have to drag a weeks luggage to tour the city.

btw, Returning, I have some other flexible options. I'm going to take 42 across to Harrisburg for a 2 hour layover, then using a Keystone ticket into Philly, I'll likely alight at Media and get the R5 to Radnor, then the Norristown line to 69th Street, and ride the #30 bus to the Subway Surface Streetcar portal for the ride to 30th Street, for my return to Baltimore on the Vermonter.

Of course, if I see Capitol Limited tix on Hot Deals at Amtrak (typically $23), I'll probably pick one up (and redeem my $54 return for future credit) and take this back to DC where I can get the MARC train into Baltimore, or Green Line it to the B30 bus to Light Rail.
