Hi All,
Just two questions.
1. Trying to book online for a roomette for the CZ in October and so many dates sold out! It wasn't like that last year...any ideas?
2. Is it likely the long distance trains (CZ, EB) will still be around in the fall?
Thanks!

Sutton--

What days were you looking at and what departure and arrival cities. I just checked Emeryville to Denver on half of the days in October and only found one day sold out for the roomette. The accomodation ($353) seemed a little high but there is still availability.

From what I hear and read the long distance trains will still be around in the fall.

Hi...

You know what... I noticed that too!!

Last year (2005) there was definetly a lot more space on the long-distance trains than this year.

Here's an example:

In April 2005, I booked a roomette on the CZ from San Francisco to Chicago for around $300 for the end of August. I think it was the lowest price bracket.

I wanted to repeat the trip... and a lot of things are already booked up!

I booked a roomette in October 2005 for travel the first week of June this year... and it was like $600 for the same route.

I wonder if they are planning on running 1 less sleeper this summer or something? That would be my guess as to why things are thrown into a higher price bracket, but I don't know that for sure.
