Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The Sunset is using 4 trainsets for tri-weekly LA-NOL, Correct? My calculations says 7 trainsets are needed for daily service, is this correct?
How many sets were used in tri-weekly LA-Orlando service pre-katrina?

I think they used 4-5 trainsets. When the train arrived in Orlando, it would turn around as #1 and depart the next day.
On the old schedule, when the Sunset departed LA at 10:30PM, the arriving #1 train would turn around as #2 the same day.
With the 2:30PM departure from LA, the trainset arriving LA would become the future departure-not the same day departure. In other words, the set arriving as #1 on Wed would depart as #2 on Fri. This is still done today, even with the shortened schedule.
