I loved this magazine and was a subscriber from about 1978 until the magazine ceased publication in about 1995.

Several months ago I seem to recall seeing somewhere that efforts were underway to bring this publication back on a quarterly basis. Does anyone out there know anything about this?

It's coming back as a quarterly. The first issue will be dated Fourth Quarter 2006 & is supposed to appear "mid-autumn". It's being published by Kevin EuDaly's White River Productions of Bucklin, MO.
http://www.whiteriverproductions.com

Editor will be Mike Schafer who was with PTJ from 1983-1990. Kevin Holland, another PTJ alumnus, will be associate editor. PTJ's founder Kevin McKinney will be on the editorial team also.

White River has also acquired CTC Board Railroads Illustrated from Hundman Publishing and is changing the name to simply Railroads Illustrated.
EuDaly announced yesterday (Oct 4th) on the Observation Car group that Hundman's editor of CTC Board, Paul Schneider, is no longer with the new magazine and a search is on for a new editor.

That's great that PTJ is coming back!!! I too subscribed from the mid-70's (?) until it ceased publication. When I first subscribed, I was living in Michigan and knew a couple people who worked with Kevin McKinney, who I believe worked for Michigan DOT at that time.

Just ordered my subscription!!!!!

I'd like to say they are offering huge discounts for subscribers of the old PTJ but I'd be fabricating if I said that!

They did say that the first issue has just gone to press and should be shipping in 2-3 weeks.
