Amtrak called today regarding my trip the week of January 15, Pittsburgh to Seattle round-trip on the Capitol Ltd. and Empire Builder.

She said that Car 0731 had been removed from the train, and I had been reassigned to the same accommodations in Car 0730. I am supposed to go to the counter and be re-ticketed for this part of the trip.

Is this because of the removal of the crew car, or a reduction in sleeper cars?

Might just be a seasonal thing.

Last time I rode the Empire Builder they had the crew car plus two sleepers on the Seattle section and then one sleeper on the Portland section.

With January generally being a low travel season, maybe they're only needing one sleeper on the Seattle section.
