I tried on the Amtrak website to figure out if the track work on the CZ route was starting on time (June 25th according to posts)but couldn't locate an answer. Does anyone know if the 25th is indeed the current start date for the work and subsequent rerouting of the Zephyr?
Thanks

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer - check the NARP Website
and then select 'Hotline News' from the left menu bar. THEN select Hotline #500 dated May 11, 2007.

About two thirds of the way down the page is an item noting that the detours for the California Zephyr have been set. Essentially, any train that originates in Chicago and Emeryville on the following dates will detour through Wyoming -

June 25-26
June 30 - July 3
July 7 - 10
July 14 - 17
July 21 - 24

Hope this helps -

Check the NARP Hotline dated June 1st. Dates for the Wyoming detours have changed AND the CZ is getting a lengthier schedule effective June 21.

Thanks, good info. I read the NARP bulletin: is the change ONLY on the 21st of June or daily? If the CZ departs Emeryville at 7:00 in the morning, will the Amtrak bus still pick people up in time at the Ferry Building downtown San Fran? Goodness, I hope I can get there from my hotel in Union Square at 5:30am!!
