Heading down to Richmond VA "On the Mid-Night [Special]Train." From New Haven CT. Well the train 67 actually is scheduled to leave around 12:45 am. Almost immediatly after booking the tickets I saw a news story about a possible Amtrak strike. Haven't heard any updates about it.
The mid night departure is actually very convinient. New Haven's Union Station is a well secured area and not far from Downtown New Haven. Time wise it would be about the same time I would have to leave Connecticut and avoid NYC and Washington Traffic. The fare was less then air and able to sleep on the train. I'm always dissapointed that when I arrive in Richmond with two great train stations we have to arrive at Staples Mill Road Station.

Doesn't #67 continue on to Newport News, VA?
If so, it also stops at the fabulous Main Street Station in downtown Richmond about 15 minutes after departing Staples Mill Road.
