Just curious. Does Amtrak go through, around or near the Bailey Yards in Nebraska?

No. Amtrak 5/6 ride the historic CB&Q (BN, BNSF) across Nebraska, not the Union Pacific Overland Route.
McCook NE (stop on 5/6 run) is 70 miles south of North Platte.

The City of Saint Louis (UP, 1967) is still my standard for passenger operations
