Hot off somebody's smart phone. Amtrak engine pulling a string of private rail cars to some convention or other over a line that hasn't seen a passenger move since, like, forever. Believe it's KCS trackage now. Love these old cars!

I would be guessing on the New Orleans to Monroe route. Most likely Union Pacific. If KCS then it would be via Shreveport. Or, it could be via CN (ICRR) to Jackson MS, thence on KCS.

Monroe to Meridian: On KCS's ex ICRR Meridian to Shreveport line.

Meridian to Gulfport: NS's (ex Southern) Meridian to Hattiesburg, then on KCS there to Gulfport. This last was part of ICRR's G&SI line - that is Gulf and Ship Island.

I had heard elsewhere that Gulfport to New Orleans was back up the KCS to Hattiesburg, then on the NS. Why not the direct CSX line, who knows? Probably CSX people would know.
