I am curious about the areas around Atco and Hammonton, New Jersey. Are those areas safe for railfan exploration?

Sure, they're safe, but there isn't much there. Atco is light suburban sprawl, and Hammonton is NJ Transit's equivalent of Maricopa, AZ.

On second thought, there is the <a href="http://theshadowlands.net/jd.htm">Jersey Devil<a> to worry about.
