First I need to say that the ATC used in Japan is no combined with ATP and ATO! As Shinkansen(High Speed train in Japan) was bulit,a new type of singalling system is needed,ATC was developed. The basic concept of Japanese ATC is the same as ATP,but there is some differences of operating when the train is overspeed.I use the example below: The system have sent a cab singal in 65km/h to the driver, and then the train overspeeded(68km/h),the system will apply maxinum service brake(Not emergency brake) to reduce the train's speed, from 68km/h to 63 or 64km/h.But ATP will apply emergency brake to stop the train. That's my example to show the differences of Japanese's & UK's ATC
