Does anyone have any experience with rail travel in Ireland?

I am scheduled to go back to the U.K. in a couple of weeks and I was thinking about a side trip to Ireland. I was wondering what the train service was like. My experience with U.K. train service has been mixed.

Thanks,

Mark

My son and wife went over there last spring. I have the timetables in pdf files with two maps in gif. If you will send me your email address, I will forward them to you. Total all files is 1.44 mb, each file is between 70 and 170 kb, except the maps which are smaller.
