In an Italian book about WWII railroad engineers, I found mention of the British receiving in May 1942 some American locomotives. They are called identified as "65DE14 Whitcomb de la Rodelle", I think built in Detroit.
Could someone indicate whether this is the proper name, and if so what were the specifications of these locomotives, how many were built, where they were used, etc ?

Whitcomb was a division of Baldwin Locomotive at the time it built the the diesels in question. They were made at their LaRochelle, Illinois plant.
