We put our trains away about 5 or 6 years ago. Today we got them out again, and found the engines have rust, as well as some of the track. Is there anything good to clean them with, or can you recommend a repair location? We're really beginners when it comes to model railroads!
Thanks!

In the case of severe rail rust, I would start off with a product called briteboy, an abrasive cleaning pad. Used aggressively, one could scratch the track. As a regular cleaning solution, I would follow up with using rubbing alcohol, but here's a great site for cleaning. http:ttx-dcc-com/technews/clean_machine.htm The underscore_line in address is correct. Hobby shops carry the brite boy.Futher questions, locomotive2@hotmail.com Happy railroading.
