In 1944, Boomer Pete wrote a book called "How to Run a Model Railroad". I think it is still one of the best books written on model railroading operations. In the early 1980's, I had read rumors that Boomer Pete was actually a nickname for A. C. Kalmbach. I wrote to Kalmbach Publishing at the time asking about this. They wrote back and told me that it was just a rumor and that A. C. Kalmbach and Boomer Pete were two different people.

Just recently, I saw a different edition of Boomer Pete's book. On the cover, the author was listed as "Boomer Pete, A.K.A. A. C. Kalmbach". This suggests that the two are actually the same person.

Do any of you have any ideas? If in fact they are the same person, then I wonder why Kalmbach publishing did not tell me the truth.

There is one more thing I feel obligated to add: "How To Run a Model Railroad" was written at a different time, and has remarks that would be considered highly racist today. As I said above, I think the book is still one of the best books about operations, however, I do not agree with the racist remarks. I added this because I did not want any of you to think I am a racist. I welcome model railroaders from any race.
