I am new railfan and I need some advice about how to know when trains will be passing by here in Rochester, NY. There are a number of great spots to watch from but is there anyway to be able to be there around the best times to see freight trains?

Thanks!

Hey! Greetings from next door! Haha. I live out here in Hilton. I think the best time to see freight trains on the main line (through Rochester) is around 6-9 PM on the week nights. There's usually 2-3 at least every hour on real busy nights. Hope this helps.
