The Friends of the East Broad Top web site has been updated with reports of the work accomplished last year by the Rockhill Restoration crew, the schedule of the 2003 work sessions, and planned work for the upcoming year.

Last year we made significant accomplishments. The section car shed at the south end the yards, long a decaying eyesore, has now been completely restored and is used again by the railroad. This involved reframing parts of the building by EBT volunteers, framing in a window opening, applying reproduction tongue and groove siding, building a new window frame, a new window sash, new doors and substantial repair and rebuilding of the rest of the building.

At the Shops Complex FEBT volunteers repaired, rebuilt, or replaced the sashes in fifteen of the buildings windows on its east side. This involved replacing two hundred and seventy panes of glass. The track doors on the north end of the building received new truss rods, new frame sections and a new concrete footer. Working with the EBT crews, structural problems on the north end of the building were corrected.

A number of other smaller tasks were performed as well around Rockhill Furnace.

For more details on our restoration efforts on Rockhill please visit this URL: http://www.febt.org/Restore/rf.html

We hope you will consider joining us in our continued efforts to preserve and restore the East Broad Top Railroad National Historic Landmark.
