Are these lines still active? They are in Pennsylvania, south of York near the Maryland state line. The SPV atlas says that they are, but the tracks look like they have not had any trains in a long while.

The bike path that parallels the line is very popular.

as far as i know, the old northern central still hosts trains as the york secondary track. it runs from cp-wago on the old conrail port road branch to just south of york, pa. it used to run further south, into baltimore, but the portion from cockeysville, md. to stewartstown, pa., is gone, now used as a rails-to-trails bike path. i do believe there is some trakage in service around shrewsbury-stewartstown that hosts a dinner train, but i can't swear to that. hope this helps a little!

Thanks! Actually I did follow some of the NCR to Ashland. From Cockeysville south it is now a light rail line.

One of the newsletters I picked up the New Freedom "museum" stated that the dinner trains ran 1997-2001. I did not read this until after I had left the museum, so I could not ask anyone if they still ran.

Evidently the Stewartstown RR is still in business? Its tracks also looked unused.

the last that i heard, and it has been a while, is that the stewartstown railroad is still in business, running short excursions in the shrewsbury/stewartstown area. i do not know this to be fact, only second hand from a fellow employee who used to work there.
